Before trying it

Does it solve a specific problem you have right now?
Does it have a free tier or trial period before paying?
Have you seen someone you trust using it with real results?

During the trial (first week)

Have you used it on a real case of yours, not just the tutorial?
Has it saved you time or visibly improved a result?
Have you opened it on your own initiative more than once?
Does it fit into your workflow without friction or extra steps?

Before paying

Would you naturally use it 3 or more times a week?
Is the monthly cost less than the value of one hour of your time?
Can you cancel easily if something better comes along in 3 months?
Are you paying only for features you actually already use?

Red flags

(each yes subtracts a point)
You're using it mainly because it's trending or everyone is talking about it
You can't remember what you used it for last time
You haven't opened it spontaneously in more than 2 weeks

Feli's rule: a tool is not worth it if you only use it for entertainment or to say you tried it. We're here to build valuable things. The tool has to earn its place.

A new AI tool comes out promising to fix your life every single week, and every week it gets harder to tell which ones are actually worth your time and which are just noise. This checklist is the fastest way I know to answer that question before committing to a new tool.

It's not a feature list or a ranking of "best AI tools right now" — it's a short, honest diagnosis for your specific case: what real problem it solves, how much time it actually saves you compared to what you already use, and whether the cost (in money or in learning curve) is worth it.

Answer the questions honestly — there's no "correct" answer, only the one that fits how you actually work — and in under 5 minutes you'll get a clear diagnosis: adopt it, test it a bit more before deciding, or skip it.
